Texas judges, among the lowest paid in the country, appear unlikely to receive a raise as state lawmakers have reached an impasse over whether to raise their own retirement benefits alongside the judge’s salary increase.

A long-awaited raise that attracted bipartisan support was halted on the Senate floor Friday night, days before the biennial session comes to a close Monday.
