Texas GOP Loses Bid to Remove 23 Libertarian Rivals from Ballots

Republican candidates and officials in Texas, including Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, lost their bid to have the state’s Supreme Court remove 23 Libertarian candidates from the November 2022 ballot for failing to pay a statutory filing fee.

The high court rejected the petition, filed by eight US House members and candidates, 11 members and candidates for the Texas legislature, plus three-county level office-seekers and holders and Patrick, because it was not timely filed, the justices said in a ruling Friday.
