Taft Gains Florida Outpost Through Merger With Trial Boutique

March 4, 2025, 5:41 PM UTC

Midwest-founded firm Taft Stettinius & Hollister said Tuesday it will enter the Florida legal market through the acquisition of a West Palm Beach-based litigation boutique this summer.

Taft’s acquisition of the 18-lawyer Mrachek Law is scheduled to be completed June 30. It will be the second combination for Taft this year after it finalized a merger with Sherman & Howard on Jan. 1, allowing Taft to increase the size of its offices in Denver and Phoenix and gain about 125 new attorneys to grow to more than 1,100 lawyers.

Leaders at Taft said the firm’s entrance into Florida comes from client demand.

“This is a very targeted move that positions Taft in one of Florida’s most affluent markets so we can better serve our clients and corporate leaders who are spending more time and doing more business in the Sunshine State,” said Taft chairman and managing partner Robert Hicks in a statement Tuesday.
