Sydbank Eyes More Green Loans as Record Writedown Is Now History

Sydbank A/S is considering increasing its green-finance target as Denmark’s third-largest lender shakes off a massive writedown related to a collapsed solar farm developer, according to its chief executive officer.

Sydbank’s target of lending 10 billion kroner ($1.4 billion) for green investments by 2027 is looking “a little too conservative,” Mark Luscombe said in a phone interview on Wednesday. The portfolio stood at 8.1 billion kroner last year, the company said today in its annual earnings report. Meanwhile, new and existing customers increasingly are seeking ways to reduce CO2 emissions, the CEO said.
