Supreme Court to Review Paramount Newsletter Meta Pixel Suit (2)

Paramount Global’s win in a proposed Video Privacy Protection Act class action will be reviewed by the US Supreme Court, which decided to take up a sports newsletter subscriber’s petition Monday.

The US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit rejected the argument that Michael Salazar’s subscription to an email newsletter made him a protected consumer under the VPPA, prompting Salazar’s petition.

Salazar said the media company disclosed which videos he watched on 247Sports.com as well as personally identifiable information to Meta Platforms Inc. via the latter’s tracking pixel embedded on the sports website.
