Stryker Fends Off Boston Scientific Bid to Block Ablation Device

Boston Scientific Corp. couldn’t convince the Federal Circuit to reverse a district court and block the launch of a competitor’s surgical device used for a procedure to treat chronic lower back pain.

The company and its Relievant MedSystems Inc. unit sued Stryker Corp. in July 2025, and then sought an injunction to block sales of Stryker’s OptaBlate BVN product—a probing tool used to access a hard-to-reach basivertebral nerve and then blast it with radiofrequency energy in a process called ablation.
