Squire Patton Boggs Announces California Acquisition

Squire Patton Boggs announced on Monday that it has reached a definitive agreement to combine with the California-based law firm Carroll, Burdick & McDonough, which has more than 50 lawyers.

The combination, subject to unspecified conditions, is expected to take effect in March.

Squire Patton Boggs was formed in 2014 when Squire Sanders of Ohio acquired the smaller lobbying powerhouse Patton Boggs of Washington, D.C. According to the most recent figures in The American Lawyer, the firm has 1,350 lawyers.

Firm leaders were not immediately available for comment on Monday.

Squire Patton Boggs is a full-service law firm that has 45 offices in the Americas, Asian Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. Carroll Burdick specializes in corporate compliance, product risk management and litigation. The firm was founded in San Francisco in 1948 and has offices in Böblingen, Germany, Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
