Space Startup Raises Funds for Laser Satellite Links (1)

Observable Space raised $90 million in its debut funding round as the company seeks to use lasers to help satellites and potentially orbiting data centers move information to and from Earth.

The round was led by Lux Capital and co-led by Upfront Ventures, Detroit Venture Partners, Island Green Capital, and RTX Ventures. BRV Capital and Fathom Fund also participated.

The company also announced a $94 million contract with the US Space Force to expand its fleet of ground-based optical telescopes to track satellites for the Pentagon, part of a push by the US and other nations to beef ...
