Sojern Defeats Hilton Guest’s Wiretap Claims Over Online Tracker

Sojern Inc. convinced a federal judge to dismiss class wiretap claims made by a Hilton and Marriott patron who said the travel marketing platform tracked her communications with the hotel websites.

Suellen Crano alleged that Sojern’s tracking pixel eavesdropped on those who visited hotel websites as part of its advertising and marketing business, in a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. She couldn’t access her accrued Hilton Honors points and use it toward future bookings without the marketing platform viewing her records, she said.
