Smart ERP Defeats Suit Over Data Breach Affecting 79,000 People

Enterprise-software provider Smart ERP Solutions Inc. defeated a proposed class action alleging negligence over a 2024 data breach that exposed the personal information of customers and employees.

The consolidated lawsuit failed because the plaintiffs didn’t identify which substantive state law applied to their claims that the company failed to adequately protect that data, Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Wednesday.
