Last year brought a noteworthy drop for Simpson Thacher & Bartlett out of the top 10 deal rankings, and saw Kirkland & Ellis wrest the crown from the former frontrunner.
Simpson Thacher advised on deals worth about $160.3 billion last year, a 63% drop from 2022, when its transactions were worth $430.4 billion, Bloomberg data shows. It slid from the top position in the rankings of deal volume by principal legal adviser in 2022 down to 11 in 2023.
