Miami lawyer Gabriel Valdes has joined Sidley Austin as a partner in its global mergers and acquisitions and private equity practice, the firm announced Thursday.
Valdes joins from at McDermott Will & Emery, where he was a corporate partner in the firm’s private equity practice. He focuses on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and divestitures, according to Sidley.
“We’re excited to have Gaby, a native Miamian who is bilingual, join us as we grow our presence in Miami,” said Yvette Ostolaza, the firm’s management committee chair, in a statement. “Beyond being an exceptional lawyer, Gaby’s local ties will be a great fit with our culture and he will be a leader in the recruitment and development of younger talent.”
Valdes is also an adjunct professor of law at the University of Miami School of Law.
