Sidley Hires Willkie Partner To Bolster Energy Group (1)

Sidley Austin has hired New York partner John Thomas from Willkie Farr & Gallagher where he served as co-chair of the energy and commodities practice.

Thomas’ practice is a hybrid of structured finance and M&A transactions in the energy space, said Brian Fahrney, who chairs Sidley’s executive committee. Thomas focuses on physical commodities including transactions involving the purchase, sale and storage of commodities across jurisdictions, Sidley said in a statement seen by Bloomberg Law Monday.

The hire comes amid a boom in demand for energy-related legal services, driven by a surge in data center buildouts and a broader electrification effort. ...
