Shopify Taps Another Ex-Facebook Lawyer as New General Counsel

Shopify Inc. has elevated Jean Niehaus to succeed fellow former Facebook lawyer Jessica Hertz as general counsel for the e-commerce company.

Niehaus was one of several Facebook legal alums to join Shopify in 2022 following the latter’s hire of Hertz as legal chief. Hertz took the job after serving as a White House staff secretary to former President Joe Biden, having previously left Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms Inc. in 2020 to be general counsel for the Biden-Harris presidential transition team.
