Shooting Prompts $525 Million Judiciary Security Funding Request

The federal judiciary is requesting about $525 million in additional funding for security enhancements after a federal judge’s son was killed in an attack on her home.

The judiciary is asking lawmakers to approve $7.2 million for new home security systems for judges, $250 million in for first-year costs to hire 1,000 new deputy U.S. Marshals and a $267 million one-time payment to the Federal Protective Service to update exterior cameras on federal courthouses across the country.
