SCOTUS Won’t Reconsider Same-Sex Marriage Legality: The Brief

THE US SUPREME COURT today refused to reconsider its decade-old ruling legalizing same-sex marriage, rejecting an appeal from a former Kentucky county clerk who refused three times to issue a marriage license to a gay couple and was fined $360,000, Greg Stohr reports.

  • The justices without comment left intact a jury finding against Kim Davis, who drew national attention by halting all marriage licenses in Rowan County after 2015’s landmark Obergefell v. Hodges decision. Davis’ appeal drew attention because the court has shifted right since Obergefell.
