- The firm’s last day of operations is Aug. 31
- Most of 91 lawyers at firm found new jobs
Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis partners voted Wednesday to finalize the Philadelphia-founded law firm’s closure after 89 years in business.
The final day of operations will be Aug. 31, according to Leslie Corwin, a Duane Morris attorney overseeing the wind down. “It’s a sad day for Schnader and it’s a sad day when a firm like Schnader dissolves,” he said.
The firm, which has represented Dollar Tree Inc., Target Corp. and Ford Motor Co., announced the dissolution last week. Work for clients will continue this month, Schnader Harrison said.
While the firm will disappear, its past work “will have an everlasting impact on our society,” Schnader Harrison said in a statement. The statement cited the firm’s work on civil rights, establishing the State of Israel and creating the Uniform Commercial Code and Uniform Probate Code.
Much of the firm’s 91 attorneys have already found new work, according to Schnader Harrison. The firm had more than 300 lawyers at one point in the early 2000s.
