A Salvadoran family who were previously denied a bid at asylum in the US failed to convince a federal appeals panel to reverse the decision on Monday.
The US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit affirmed an immigration judge’s denial of asylum status to Julio Alvarado-Reyes, his wife, and their child, a unanimous panel wrote in an opinion. The panel agreed that Alvarado-Reyes failed to establish that he was a member of a legally protected particular social group facing persecution in El Salvador.
