PwC’s global arm is pushing back against criticisms from a US senator who questioned the Big Four firm’s business strategy in China and its ties to the Communist Party there.
Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio’s letter challenged PwC’s work for state-owned enterprises in China. He also accused the firm of providing consulting services to government officials in the Xinjiang region, where the US has restricted trade to counter forced labor and other alleged human rights abuses against the Uyghur ethnic group.
