Privacy Reviewer Will Monitor CareerBuilder + Monster Asset Sale

A consumer privacy ombudsman has been tapped to review how a sale of bankrupt online job recruiter CareerBuilder + Monster’s assets will affect users’ personal information.

Alan Chapell of Chapell & Associates was chosen by the Justice Department’s bankruptcy monitor, the US Trustee’s office, to ensure the proposed sale protects consumer privacy interests and abides by the US bankruptcy code, according to a notice issued Tuesday in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The company last month kicked off a bankruptcy process in which it proposed selling its job board business to JobGet Inc. for $7 million. ...
