Perplexity AI Can’t Escape Dow Jones Training Copyright Suit (1)

Perplexity AI Inc. failed to shake a copyright infringement suit brought by publishers of The Wall Street Journal and New York Post accusing the search engine of copying “massive amounts” of articles without permission.

The Manhattan court has jurisdiction over Dow Jones & Co. and NYP Holdings Inc.'s claims, according to an order issued Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Judge Katherine Polk Failla denied Perplexity’s request to dismiss the lawsuit for lack of jurisdiction or improper venue, and its motion to transfer the case to California.
