Perkins Coie has appointed Val Dahiya, who is chair of the securities trading and markets practice, managing partner of the Washington office, the firm said Friday.
Dahiya counsels financial services clients on compliance, regulatory, and transactional matters under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Perkins Coie said in a statement.
She will still lead the securities trading and markets practice and be a partner in the investment management practice and the blockchain, digital assets & custody industry group, the firm said.
Until 2018, Dahiya was a branch chief in the SEC’s derivatives policy and trading practices office in the Division of Trading & Markets.
She is also a member of Nasdaq’s Exchange Review Council as well as Perkins Coie’s Associate & Counsel Evaluation Committee and the D.C. office’s Diversity & Inclusion and Hiring Committees. She is also co-lead of the firm’s African American/Black Resource Group.
