Proskauer Rose recruited a Paul Weiss partner who started Monday leading the firm’s US private equity transactions practice.

Sarah Stasny has been tapped to recruit fellow partners and deepen Proskauer Rose’s client relationships, according to the firm. She comes off a six-year stint at Paul Weiss, where she served on the firm’s management committee. Her Big Law pedigree also includes three years in the Kirkland & Ellis partnership followed by more than a decade at Weil Gotshal & Manges.

“Combining my private equity M&A experience with Proskauer’s deep relationships across the private capital spectrum creates a market opportunity that was too compelling to pass up,” she said in a statement.

Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison has seen partners and associates depart after the firm promised President Donald Trump $40 million in free legal services on shared causes in return for the White House rescinding an executive order targeting the firm for its ties to lawyers the president perceives as enemies.

Paul Weiss said in a statement it thanks Stasny for her contributions and wishes her well.

Stasny’s recent client engagements include representing digital marketing company Neptune Retail Solutions in its 2023 take-private deal to acquire Quotient Technology, according to SEC filings and her online profile. In 2022, she represented private equity firm KKR in its investment in Skydance Media, the production company behind the film “Top Gun: Maverick.”

She leaves a firm with a significant clientele of private equity firms including Apollo Global Management, for whom Paul Weiss handles high-value transactions and litigation needs. As late as last year, Paul Weiss advised Apollo in securing $500 million in debt financing from a subordinated note offering to fund “general corporate purposes.”

Proskauer Rose has represented Stamps.com in a $6.6 billion sale to private equity firm Thoma Bravo. Proskauer also frequently represents investment bank Morgan Stanley in its role as financial adviser to investment funds.

“Sarah fits perfectly within our strategy, which is to build a platform with scale and expertise throughout the lifecycle of private capital,” Proskauer chair Tim Mungovan said in a statement.
