Paul Weiss, Kirkland Advise on IBM’s $4.6 Billion Apptio Buy

Paul Weiss is advising IBM Corp. on its agreement to pay $4.6 billion for Apptio Inc., which provides cloud-based software for IT management and planning.

Kirkland & Ellis said it’s counseling Apptio’s seller, Vista Equity Partners, on the deal, expected to close in 2023’s second half. Kirkland also advised the private equity firm when it bought the company for $1.9 billion in 2019, according to a statement.

Apptio, founded in 2007, says on its web site that it provides software as a service that helps companies manage their information technology budgeting, forecasting, and financial management, among other things. IBM said ...
