Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison has nabbed four Kirkland & Ellis partners from the London office, including star debt finance partner Neel Sachdev.
Sachdev is joined in the move by partners Kanesh Balasubramaniam, Matthew Merkle and Deirdre Jones, according to two people familiar with the matter. In New York, Kirkland partner Eric Wedel is also joining Paul Weiss, according to one of the people.
Sachdev is one of Kirkland’s best known London partners. He has been at the firm for more than two decades and was promoted to partner in 2006. His major client roster includes: Apollo Global Management, Bain Capital, Carlyle Group and Warburg Pincus.
Paul Weiss and Kirkland & Ellis have been trading blows in the battle to hire talent. Earlier this month, Kirkland hired Paul Weiss’ London head and star partner Alvaro Membrillera.
Membrillera is being joined in the move by fellow partner Adam Wollstein and associates Anna Pollak and Pelin Demirdere Eski, who will join Kirkland as partners, according to a person familiar with the matter.
