- Gina Beredo will join Owens Corning June 9
- She succeeds Ava Harter as general counsel
Beredo officially joins the insulation and roofing materials company, based in Toledo, Ohio, on June 9 after eight years with Nordson Corp., which manufactures products such as adhesives, sealants, and paints. In her new role, she’ll oversee Owens Corning’s global legal operations, including government and corporate affairs, according to a Tuesday statement from the company.
She succeeds Ava Harter, who left Owens Corning in December to become the top lawyer for home appliances company Whirlpool. Since Harter’s departure, Owens Corning’s deputy general counsel Richard L. Berry has stepped in as acting general counsel.
“I am honored by the opportunity to join Owens Corning as General Counsel and look forward to working with such a highly respected team and company,” Beredo said in the statement. “With its strong heritage, innovative products and commitment to sustainability, it will be exciting to be a part of building on the company’s success to achieve even greater results.”
Beredo, who declined further comment on her move, has also worked for greeting cards company American Greetings Corp. and was an associate with BakerHostetler.
“We are pleased to add such a talented leader to our executive team as her broad expertise will be valuable as our company continues to grow and execute on its long-term objectives,” Owens Corning chairman and CEO Brian Chambers said in the Tuesday statement.
Harter joined Whirlpool following former legal chief Kirsten Hewitt’s retirement after 25 years with the home appliances company. Before that, Harter earned nearly $1.8 million in total compensation from Owens Corning in 2019, according to a company proxy statement. Her total compensation for 2020 was not reported in this year’s proxy filing.
