The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine was accused in a new federal lawsuit of failing to protect the data of osteopathic medical school applicants after a September 2024 data breach compromised the personal information of more than 67,000 people.
The breach exposed names, Social Security numbers, and medical information contained in the association’s database, according to the proposed class action filed in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.
Lead plaintiff Marina Girgis says she used the association’s site to apply for medical school and experienced emotional distress following the breach.
