Orrick Ex-Employee Drops Data Breach Suit Hours After Filing It

A former Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe employee backed out of a data breach lawsuit against the law firm Friday hours after accusing it of failing to protect his personal information from cyber criminals.

Joseph Casillas voluntarily dismissed his complaint without prejudice, allowing him to re-file it in another venue. He had earlier asked the California federal court for damages for himself and other alleged victims of a January cyber attack.

Andrew Gunem, one of Casillas’ lawyers, didn’t immediately respond when contacted after Casillas dismissed the complaint. He declined to comment when contacted after the suit was filed. An Orrick spokesperson ...
