Environmental groups challenged the Trump administration’s approval of a lithium mine exploration project in southern Oregon Monday, alleging the Interior Department failed to study the project’s impact on imperiled species.
The US Bureau of Land Management greenlit drilling, road construction, and groundwater pumping in the McDermitt Caldera, which is “one of the last, best,” sagebrush habitats that support the imperiled greater sage-grouse, according to a lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the District of Oregon.
