OpenAI Stifled Whistleblower Reports to SEC, Letter Warns (1)

The Securities and Exchange Commission has been asked to investigate whether OpenAI’s employment agreements violate a whistleblower protection rule.

The ChatGPT maker’s agreements prohibited employees from communicating with the SEC about securities law violations and forced them to waive any right to whistleblower awards, an attorney for anonymous whistleblowers said in a letter to SEC Chair Gary Gensler that was made public Saturday.

The request for an investigation was made by “one or more” whistleblowers, according to the letter.
