Online Trading Platforms on Increase, SIFMA Report Shows

Regulatory and industry forces are moving toward electronic trading platforms because of the potential benefits of pre-trading transparency and market liquidity, a report compiled by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association showed Feb. 17.

Electronic trading of investment grade bonds has increased by approximately 150 percent since 2013, or 20 percent of the total trading volume, the report said.

Likewise, SIFMA said that in the past two years, seven online trading platforms have entered the market and four more plan to enter the market in 2016.
