Online Ministry Loses Suit Over Tennessee’s Ordination Law (1)

Tennessee district attorneys didn’t violate an online ministry’s constitutional rights by applying a state law that prohibits ministers ordained online from performing marriages in the state, a federal court said.

Tennessee settled a similar suit with another online ministry by stipulating that the state’s online scheme wouldn’t be applied to that ministry. When American Marriage Ministries didn’t receive the same treatment it claimed a violation of its rights under the establishment clause.
