The Office of Management and Budget is allegedly attempting to shutter the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, a key watchdog group tasked with overseeing federal agencies.
The office and Director Russell Vought are refusing to funnel congressionally appropriated funds to the council, despite having “no authority to unilaterally decide to defund” the agency, a group of government accountability organizations alleged in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.
