A proposal to “create opportunities” for graduates of schools not accredited by the American Bar Association to sit for the Ohio bar exam was put forth Thursday by the state Supreme Court.
The seven-justice court also told its administrative director to work to establish an accreditation process done by the state and to work with Ohio’s nine law schools to submit a variance request to the ABA, according to a news release.
“This request is intended to relieve the schools of outdated processes and associated costs, while also supporting new initiatives to enhance practice readiness,” the release says.
