A law student whose job offer was rescinded by Winston & Strawn after comments in a newsletter blaming Israel for the deadly attacks by Hamas says the controversy surrounding the statement is “entirely misplaced and a dangerous distraction.”

“My message came across as insensitive to the suffering of Israelis during a time of crisis and that is not what I intended,” Ryna Workman, a New York University law student and former summer associate at Winston, said in a statement Monday. “My intent was to call attention to the lack of coverage about Palestinians and to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.” ...
