- Norton Rose Fulbright is aiming to hit the 1,000-lawyer mark in the US
- Firm builds regulatory, investigations, securities and compliance practice
Norton Rose Fulbright is making good on plans to grow US headcount with the addition of a 12-lawyer group from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.
The additions to its regulatory, investigations, securities and compliance practice include Jeff Kalinowski, Eric Martin and Jeff Ziesman, who are joining as partners in St. Louis, the firm said in a Tuesday statement. The group also includes Laura Perlov, who is joining as a partner in Denver.
“Their arrival expands our already strong global investigations offering, which will continue to be an area of growth over the coming years,” the firm’s US managing partner, Jeff Cody, said in a statement.
Norton Rose, which is on pace to have about 900 US lawyers by the end of the year, has been looking to expand to 1,000. Cody said in an interview published June 7 that he expects the firm to hit the target by the end of next year. The firm has 3,000 lawyers globally.
The firm in its Tuesday statement said it has roughly doubled the size of its regulatory, investigations, securities and compliance practice to 58 lawyers in the US over the last four years. Eleven of the practice’s 23 partners have joined since 2021, the firm said.
Kalinowski represents broker-dealers, investment advisers and individual securities industry professionals and tried more than 100 securities-related jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations, according to the firm.
Martin, who co-led Bryan Cave’s financial services disputes and investigations group, is joining Norton Rose as US head of its digital assets disputes practice.
Ziesman works with large financial organizations to mid-size regional businesses on regulatory matters brought by the SEC, FINRA, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and state securities regulators.
Perlov focuses on crisis management, defending individuals and companies in state and federal investigations, complex securities regulation matters and enforcement proceedings.
Joining alongside the four partners are senior counsel Shea Hicks in St. Louis and David Miller in Denver, and counsel Natalie Becker and Shannon Wheaton in St. Louis, along with four associates.
