Noel Francisco Confirmed as U.S. Solicitor General

The U.S. Senate confirmed Noel Francisco Sept. 19 to be solicitor general, the government’s top lawyer at the U.S. Supreme Court.

Francisco served as deputy solicitor general and acting solicitor general after President Donald Trump took office.

Francisco’s name was floated early for solicitor general, but his prospects seemed to dim after he was pegged for the deputy slot.

The SG search proved difficult, and ultimately Trump tapped Francisco for solicitor general post in early March.
