New Jersey cities Newark and Hoboken hired the state’s former attorney general to defend them in a Justice Department lawsuit over “sanctuary city” policies.
Gurbir Grewal on Monday filed an appearance in the case, in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. Grewal is a partner at Manhattan’s Milbank LLP who led the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement division during the Biden administration.
The lawsuit is the latest example of Milbank lawyers taking on President Donald Trump’s administration in court after reaching a deal with the White House to pledge $100 million in free legal service, ...
