Ninth Circuit Lifts Pause on Some UC Researcher Grant Cuts

The Trump administration’s bid to pause a court order requiring it to continue hundreds of millions of dollars in research grants to the University of California was partially granted Tuesday by a panel of Ninth Circuit judges.

The judges left in place an order requiring the government to reinstate research grants for one provisionally certified class that were terminated under the administration’s DEI executive orders while an appeal is pending, saying the cuts seem to be aimed at suppressing speech.
