Marc Mukasey, a former federal prosecutor with high-profile clients, has added a new name partner to the New York trial boutique he co-founded.

The firm’s new name is Mukasey Young as Torrey Young replaces co-founder Robert Frenchman, who is leaving the boutique formerly known as Mukasey Frenchman. “Pound for pound, Torrey is in the strongest class of lawyers I’ve ever worked with,” Mukasey said in an interview.

For Young, the new role means she will take up more of the administrative duties as she continues her practice. “It allows both Marc and I to focus on our clients in ways that we enjoy and do really well together,” she said. Young said a goal is to expand the firm’s health care practice.

Mukasey is known for representing clients such as FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried and Nikola Corp. founder Trevor Milton. He was on the legal team defending Fleet New York Metropolitan Regional Center against allegations by the US Securities and Exchange Commission that the company defrauded investors of more than $229 million.

Mukasey also represented US Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) during a federal probe into allegations that the lawmaker had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl in exchange for money. Gaetz denied the allegations and the Justice Department decided in February 2023 not to charge him.

Mukasey and Young are co-counsel defending Celsius Network founder Alexander Mashinsky in an alleged crypto fraud criminal case in the US District Court in the Southern District of New York. Young is also defending performance sportswear company Aztech Mountain LLC over claims of alleged failure to make its site accessible to blind or visually impaired people.

Frenchman said in a statement, “It was a dream of mine to build a boutique firm where I could practice at the highest level for great clients. I did that and now I’m gearing up for my next adventure, which will be announced soon.”

(Adds Mukasey representation of US Rep. Matt Gaetz in fifth paragraph. A previous update corrected the fourth paragraph to note Mukasey is no longer on Fleet New York Metropolitan case. )
