Miller & Chevalier Taps Michael Desmond as Tax Practice Co-Lead

Michael Desmond joined Miller & Chevalier Chartered as a member and co-leader of its tax controversy and litigation practice, the firm announced Tuesday.

Desmond, who previously was at Gibson Dunn, works with the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service to address uncertain tax positions and obtain critical guidance on complex tax matters for clients across various industries. He was the chief counsel of the IRS from 2019 to 2021.

His practice will focus on representing clients in crucial federal tax disputes, guiding them through every stage—from audits and administrative appeals to litigation, the firm said.
