Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has joined the boutique Washington DC law firm founded by former Attorney General Bill Barr.
Pompeo, who also served as CIA director during the first Donald Trump administration and served four terms in the US House, is of counsel at Torridon Law Group, according to the firm’s website. Barr founded the firm with deep Republican ties in late 2022 and named it after a Scottish Highlands area that he visits.
Torridon didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Axios first reported the news of Pompeo’s addition to Torridon’s strategic advisory arm.
The firm includes Pat Cipollone, former White House counsel under Trump, Fried Fielding, White House counsel under Presidents Ronald Reagan George W. Bush, and Patrick Philbin, a deputy counsel under Trump. The firm also recently brought on Mike Fragoso, chief counsel to former Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell as a partner and Dan Brouillette, Trump’s former energy secretary, to its strategic advisory arm.
Clients include Rupert Murdoch’s Dow Jones & Co. for an artificial intelligence suit and two Columbia University custodians who claim they were attacked during campus protests over the Israel-Hamas war. It also successfully defended Fox News personality Jessica Tarlov over claims that she defamed a witness at House impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
Torridon co-founder Ted Ullyot, the former Facebook general counsel, left the firm in May after being named chief legal officer for the National Football League.
