Meta Defeats Data Privacy Class Lawsuit Over Food Bank Sites

Meta Platforms Inc. convinced a federal court to dismiss a proposed class suit that alleged several California non-profit food banks disclosed personal data to the social media company in violation of state and federal law.

Meta users agree to its privacy policy through continued use of their Facebook and Instagram accounts. The plaintiffs had those accounts, and the privacy policy covered the alleged conduct, Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler said for the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
