Mednax to Pay $6 Million to Settle Suit Over 2020 Data Breach

Mednax Inc. will pay $6 million to settle allegations it negligently failed to protect the personal information of more than 2.7 million patients that was exposed in a 2020 phishing attack and data breach, under a deal given final approval in federal court.

The settlement will provide each class member up to $5,000 for documented expenses resulting from the breach and up to $420 in reimbursement for time spent responding to it.
