Medical Marijuana Firm Accused of Self-Dealing

A medical marijuana firm worked with another cannabis company as part of a scheme to buy shell companies to enrich the firm’s insiders at the expense of regular investors, a new class complaint says.

Liberty Health Sciences Inc. misled investors about the value of shell company investments made as part of an alleged scheme with Aphria Inc., another cannabis producer with “longstanding ties” to Liberty, according to the suit filed Jan. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
