New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani added Legal Aid Society CEO Twyla Carter to his transition team on Monday along with dozens of public-interest attorneys, creating a cadre of advisers that largely ices out Big Law.
Carter, who has led the Manhattan-based legal services nonprofit since 2022, was tapped for the transition’s legal affairs committee, according to a news release.
