A former Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith partner is suing the firm over alleged racial discrimination and unpaid wages after experiencing health issues.
Robert Lofton, a former labor & employment attorney who is Black, experienced complications from a Dec 2022 medical procedure that landed him in the emergency room repeatedly in the following months, according to the complaint. “Immediately upon learning of Mr. Lofton’s health struggles, LBBS began a campaign of harassment, discrimination and retaliation against him,” Lofton alleges the complaint, which was filed Tuesday in Los Angeles’s Superior Court of California.
