A former Kirkland & Ellis associate, who is suing the world’s highest-grossing law firm over alleged gender discrimination, fired her own lawyers for reportedly failing to aggressively litigate her case.
Former Kirkland IP associate Zoya Kovalenko terminated her lawyers at Filippatos PLLC for allegedly attempting to fast-track their own pay-day by rushing to settle with the mega-firm, according to Kovalenko’s Jan. 29 termination notice to the US District Court for the Northern District of California. Emails she attached to the motion show Kovalenko’s lawyer at Filippatos portraying her as a difficult client who wouldn’t accept their advice.
