Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders urged the Federal Trade Commission to sue to block Kroger Co.'s proposed $24.6 billion acquisition of Albertsons Cos.
“Kroger’s and Albertsons’ histories of aggressive profiteering during the pandemic present a dangerous roadmap for how a larger and more powerful company would act if this acquisition were allowed to proceed,” according to the letter sent Tuesday to FTC Chair Lina Khan. The letter was also signed by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL).
Kroger and Albertsons didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment.
