Payward Inc., the parent company of fast-growing cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has recruited Marco Santori to be its new chief legal officer.
Santori, who starts his new role April 7, is a former partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and Cooley, where he started and led the latter’s fintech practice in 2016. Kraken called Santori the “Dean of Digital Currency Lawyers” in a statement touting his hire.
He takes over as the company’s top in-house lawyer from former general counsel Mary Beth Buchanan, who left Kraken in February to become chief legal officer for cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp Ltd.
